Safeguarding Culture

There are no published lessons in this course yet.

Creating a culture where children come first, people speak up, and everyone takes responsibility.

Course Overview

Safeguarding is more than policies, procedures and paperwork. It is the culture we create every day.

This course explores what a strong safeguarding culture looks and feels like in practice, and the role leaders play in creating it. You will consider how psychological safety, professional curiosity, integrity, accountability and respectful challenge all contribute to keeping children safe.

You will also explore how to put children’s welfare at the centre of decision-making, recognise when poor practice is becoming normalised, and develop the confidence to have important conversations early and appropriately.

Who is this for?

This course is designed for Leaders and other colleagues with responsibility for leading practice and people within an Early Years setting.

It is particularly useful for anyone who has a responsibility to:

  • Make decisions with children’s welfare at the centre.
  • Shape the culture within their room or provision.
  • Support and challenge colleagues.
  • Model high standards of professional practice.
  • Encourage staff to raise concerns openly.
