  • Not be afraid to admit their own shortcomings and work on them, even be motivated by them.
  • Be open with her team and has infectious passion.
  • Recognise the business needs of their setting.
  • Always try to better themself, being open to new information and ideas.
  • Not be afraid to go the heart of the issue and ask difficult questions where they need to be asked.

Try the GIST – good ideas for starting things…

  1. Focus on what matters most – focus on the words your wrote down to describe exemplary early years practice the enxt time you feel lost. How can you ensure the children in your care feel the things that matters most?
  2. Find 10 seconds of courage – the next time you have to face a difficult moment, don’t think about the whole issue. focus on the first 10 seconds of courage needed to begin tackling it. Start the conversation, send the email, stand up and be heard.
  3. Build your own network – there is strength in togetherness. Send a message now to someone else working in early years to connect and share your ideas.
