Enabling Environment – Planning

Who is this for?

All staff involved in the planning, preparation, delivery and reflection of learning experiences in Early Years settings, from apprentices to leaders.

What will you do?

In this course, you will explore:

  • The purpose of planning in the EYFS
  • The balance of adult-led, child-initiated and in-the-moment planning
  • How to create plans with clear learning intentions
  • How to adapt activities responsively
  • How to reflect as a team on what worked and why
  • How to use curiosity, not Pinterest, to guide your ideas
  • How to include everyone’s voice without overcomplicating the process
  • How AI can support, not replace, professional judgement

You’ll also examine real scenarios, hear lived experiences from the Always Growing team, and identify practical changes to strengthen your planning culture.

What are the benefits?

A setting that plans well will:

  • Provide purposeful, consistent and joyful learning experiences
  • Meet children’s needs through intentional and responsive provision
  • Strengthen professional confidence and teamwork
  • Build routines for reflection and shared learning
  • Reduce overwhelm and unnecessary workload
  • Avoid “activity for activity’s sake” and keep learning intentions at the centre
  • Empower every practitioner to contribute to planning meaningfully

How can you seek help?

Email info@alwaysgrowing.co.uk with all of your questions and if you would like tailored support in your setting from one of our team. Also, a great way to seek support is to connect with a team member or another professional working in Early Years to share experiences and ideas.
