Reassuring Relationships – Safeguarding

Who is this for?

This is for all practitioners working in the nursery setting and could support parents awareness of the fundamental principle of safeguarding to protect both children and adults in settings.

What will you do?

From completing this course, you will:

  • Understand safeguarding fundamentals: Learn the difference between safeguarding and child protection, why it matters, and how early help, vigilance, and information sharing prevent harm.
  • Know statutory responsibilities: Understand the EYFS safeguarding requirements, the role of the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL), and new 2025 updates covering whistleblowing, absences, references, safer eating, and hygiene standards.
  • Apply effective safeguarding practice: Learn how to embed safeguarding in daily routines—drop-off, outdoor play, mealtimes, toileting, and collection—and recognise signs of abuse or neglect in real-world scenarios.
  • Promote a safeguarding culture: Explore how to build open communication, professional curiosity, and team accountability so that safeguarding becomes everyone’s responsibility, every day.

You will learn about this through a range of video and text material, with regular reflection encouraged throughout.

What are the benefits?

A team that is knowledgeable in safeguarding creates a culture of safety and trust. When every member understands how to recognise, respond to, and report concerns, children are better protected, families feel confident in the care provided, and staff work together with clarity and confidence. Strong safeguarding knowledge empowers practitioners to act early, uphold their duty of care, and ensure that every child thrives in a secure and supportive environment.

How can you seek help?

Email info@alwaysgrowing.co.uk with all of your questions and if you would like tailored support in your setting from one of our team. Also, a great way to seek support is to connect with a team member or another professional working in Early Years to share experiences and ideas.
